A cookbook for the beer lover with a hunger to learn.

Pairing with Pros

This book brings you into the kitchen and to the table with some of the most respected voices in the beer industry. In this book you will explore 66 recipes expertly paired with world-class beers you can obtain with relative ease. These are not just hypothetical pairings. Every pairing was cooked, tasted, and verified to make sure each combination delivers on the page exactly as it does on the plate.

Each recipe is presented in three sections. The Dish brings the flavors, textures, and context of the food to life. The Beer explores the style and unique character of the chosen beer. The Pairing explains the interaction between bite and sip, and why the match works.

About the Author

Barry Elwonger has spent more than 15 years immersed in the craft beer industry as a brewery marketer, educator, competition organizer, judge, and writer. He is an Advanced Cicerone and nationally ranked BJCP judge who serves on judging panels at the Great American Beer Festival and World Beer Cup, proctors and grades BJCP exams, and teaches sensory education for beer professionals and enthusiasts.

His experience spans nearly every corner of beer culture, from eight years working inside a brewery to collaborating with more than 40 breweries and industry organizations through his company, Allocated Media. Along the way, Barry developed a particular fascination with the relationship between beer and food and how thoughtful pairing can bring out new dimensions in both. That fascination ultimately led to Pairing with Pros.
